At some point it normally happens to everyone, especially as we get older.
For some, that can be some light pain in your wrists, back, knees, etc, and for others it can be a diagnosis of something such as a form of arthritis.
But why do these problems seem to increase with age?...
What causes pain as we get older?
A lot of joint pain occurs when the cartilage between your joints and bones become inflamed and wears down.
Cartilage is made up of collagen, glucosamine, chondroitin and other substances. It covers the end of bones where they meet the joints.
Eventually, as cartilage deteriorates, the bones will rub together (because the cartilage isn’t there any longer to soothe) leading to pain and poor mobility.
Here’s some (not all) of the reasons that happens…
For some, the stresses of life, over time, can lead to increased inflammation.
This “stress” is not just mental / emotional stress but can also be physical stressors such as diet problems, lack of sleep, poor posture, and excess amounts of activity / exercise.
When joints are inflamed, cartilage will wear down much quicker and this leads to joint pain.
Therefore, managing these factors is very important.
Collagen is found in our skin, hair, joints, bones, nails, digestive system and tendons.
It plays a part in the strength and elasticity of our skin, the health of our hair and nails, and in the health of the tissue in our joints.
However, once we reach around 20 years old our collagen production starts to slow significantly which is a cause of signs of ageing and joint problems.
By aged 80 we have approximately just 30% of the levels of collagen we had when 20!
This is one reason we offer Advanced Collagen– which contains 1200mg of collagen, supported by the addition of vitamin C (which contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of bones and cartilage).
Glucosamine is produced naturally in the body.
It is found in our joints, cartilage, bone, tendons, ligaments, nails, hair and skin.
Similar to collagen, unfortunately, the body’s ability to produce glucosamine appears to reduce with age.
It is not easy to obtain from normal food sources which is why many people turn to supplements such as our Advanced Glucosamine.
By understanding and addressing some of the factors that cause joint health to decline with age, significant improvements can be made to health and mobility for many years to come.
Our “Joint Bundle” contains our Advanced Turmeric, Advanced Glucosamine and Advanced Collagen at a large saving.
These contain a wide range of ingredients and have been enhanced with Vitamin C which contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of bones and cartilage.
